ECOFEN: an End-to-end energy Cost mOdel and simulator For Evaluating power consumption in large-scale Networks

Résumé

Wired networks are increasing in size and their power consumption is becoming a matter of concern. Evaluating the end-to-end electrical cost of new network architectures and protocols is difficult due to the lack of monitored realistic infrastructures. We propose an End-to-End energy Cost mOdel and simulator For Evaluating power consumption in large-scale Networks (ECOFEN) whose user's entries are the network topology and traffic. Based on configurable measurement of different network components (routers, switches, NICs, etc.), it provides the power consumption of the overall network including the end-hosts as well as the power consumption of each equipment over time.
