How to manage update needs within component-based software architectures

Résumé

Component-based software architectures, like any software, need to be updated. By updated we mean all modifications brought to the architecture's elements. Updating within increasingly complex software architectures requires a strong expertise. This expertise which ensure the success of the modifications is often stylized. Indeed, a solution to meet an updating need often conforms to particular manner to update, by privileging some concerns rather than others. We propose in this paper a new approach to capitalize, use and reuse stylized updating expertises in a global way: the updating styles. The updating styles formal aspect will make possible to build an environment to assist many architects in component-based architectures updates.
