Nonlinear control of light in periodic photonic structures: from waveguides to cavities

Abstract : We review the fundamentals of light control in nonlinear periodic photonic lattices. In particular, we demonstrate their ability to control the modulational instability and pattern formation in a nonlinear dissipative feedback system.
