Effect of magnets on average torque and power factor of Synchronous Reluctance Motors

Abstract : This paper presents the design of Synchronous Reluctance Motors (SynRM) with four flux-barriers. The study is focused on the use of ferrite magnets into flux-barriers and its impact on average torque, torque ripple and power factor. The analysis uses Finite Element Method (FEM) for different pole pair numbers in order to choose an efficient structure.
