Simulation of life distributions

Abstract : This chapter introduces the principles underlying the simulation of the probability distributions which typically characterize the life/failure processes of engineered components and systems. The basic procedures for sampling random numbers are reviewed and examples are provided with reference to the uniform, exponential and Weibull distributions which are among the most commonly used probability distributions in reliability, availability and safety analysis.
